Former CDIC Chairman Chin-tsair Tsay was elected in 2004 to serve on the IADI Executive
Council. The CDICwas subsequently represented on the council by former presidents Johnson
C.S. Chen, HowardN. H.Wang, and, fromNovember 2013, ExecutiveVice PresidentWilliam T.Y.
Su.
InAugust 2004, theCDICwaselected to serveaschairpersonof the IADI'sResearchandGuidance
Committee (RGC), inwhichcapacity itpresided relatedconferencesand theplanningofmeetingaffairs.
Itsubsequentlypresided the"GeneralGuidance for theResolutionofBankFailures" researchprojectand
was responsible forpromoting the formulationof international standards for the resolutionofproblem
institutions.Thestandardswere formallyannouncedby the IADI inFebruary2006.Thatyear, formerCDIC
PresidentJohnsonC.S.Chen represented formerChairmanChin-tsairTsayaschairpersonof theRGC.
Thecommittee is responsible for setting thedirectionof IADI's researchonglobal deposit insurance
mechanisms,aswell as formulationand researchon international standards fordeposit insurance.The
CDIC InternationalRelationsandResearchOfficeDirectorYvonneFanhasservedas thecommitteechair
since2008.During theglobal financialcrisis, theCDICparticipated in formulating the"CorePrinciples for
EffectiveDeposit InsuranceSystems"alongwithother internationalorganizationsanddeposit insurers in
othercountries.TheCDICalsochaired theGuidancePaper for"PublicAwarenessof theDeposit Insurance
Systems."Both standardswereapprovedand formallyannouncedby the IADI in2009.
