6. InternationalAffairs
(1) Joining IADI asaFoundingMember
The International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) was established in
Basel, Switzerland, in May 2002 to promote cooperation and exchange among
deposit insurance organizations around the world and support the stability of
the international financial system. The CDIC joined the IADI in 2002 as one of the
association’s 25 foundingmembers and has since actively participated in related
international affairs.
(2) Election to the IADI ExecutiveCouncil toActivelyParticipate in theDevelopment
of the InternationalOrganization
At the secondAnnual Conferenceof the IADI inSeoul,Korea, formerCDICChairman
Chin-tsair Tsay presented a speech introducing Taiwan's experience in financial
reform. He was also nominated and elected to serve on the association's Executive
Council.
(3) Hosting IADI Annual General Meeting and Conference and Receiving the First
Deposit InsuranceOrganizationof theYearAward
The CDIC hosted the IADI 4th Annual General Meeting and Conference in
conjunctionwith its 20thAnniversary in2005. InSeptember that year, theCDICheld
its expanded 20th anniversary celebration at the Grand Hotel in Taipei along with
the IADI 4thAnnual General Meeting andConference, ThirdAnnual Meeting of the
Asia-Pacific Regional Committee, and First International Deposit InsuranceWeek
exhibition. These activitieswere joinedbymore than ahundreddelegates fromover
