Recently there have been numerous instances of crime rings engaging in financial fraud by posing as employees of CDIC to extract personal information from their victims. Their Modus Operandi are constantly being modified and upgraded. In order to prevent people from being cheated, and to protect the rights and interests of depositors, CDIC would like to make the following pronouncements:
- 1.CDIC was established to manage the deposit insurance system pursuant to the Deposit Insurance Act. Under the deposit insurance system, it is insured financial institutions that pay insurance premiums (and not the depositors) to CDIC, which in turn uses these funds to protect depositors should any of these insured institutions fail. For more information regarding CDIC operations, please refer to other session of our website at www.cdic.gov.tw.
- 2.If a person unknown to you asks you in the name of CDIC for your personal bank account number, outstanding balance, the passwords of your debit card, chip card or credit card, or else asks you to transfer your money through an ATM or by other methods, please be on the highest alert. Whenever you get such kinds of calls, please phone CDIC first before taking any actions so as to safeguard your rights and interests. CDIC toll-free hotline number is as follows: 0800-000148.
