Outgoing Central Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) President Michael Lin and Executive Vice President William Su were promoted to the positions of CDIC Chairman and President, respectively, by approval of the Executive Yuan. A swearing-in and handover ceremony for the incoming Chairman and President was held on September 21, 2018. The ceremony was presided by Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) Vice Chairman Chuang-Chang Chang and observed by numerous dignitaries. Incoming President Su will also serve as a Board member of the CDIC.
Chairman Lin served at the Central Bank of the Republic of China (CBC) for more than 30 years as the Assist Director General of the Department of Financial Inspection and the Advisor of CBC. He has extensive practical experience in financial inspection and financial supervision, with particular expertise in anti-money laundering and financial fraud case analysis, bank deposit and liquidity management, and other areas of financial regulation. Since his appointment as President of the CDIC in September 2013, Chairman Lin has upheld the policies of the competent authority and led his colleagues in jointly promoting the smooth operation of the CDIC and fully developing the CDIC's policy functions. He has earned broad praise for his performance during his tenure.
Incoming President William Su is the first employee of the CDIC to rise up through the company ranks from an entry level to the position of President. During his time at the CDIC, President Su has served as a model to all of his colleagues. He has performed with excellence and assisted superiors with the establishment of systems at the CDIC. He served as the Head of the China United Trust and Investment Corporation conservatorship team and the Deputy Head of the Chung Shing Commercial Bank superintendence and conservatorship teams. President Su has also made outstanding accomplishments in his positions as an Executive Councilmember of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI), Chairperson of the IADI Core Principles and Research Council Committee, and Chairperson of the IADI Asia-Pacific Regional Committee. He is deeply respected by his superiors and colleagues at all levels at the CDIC.
CDIC was established in 1985. With their extensive experience and excellent leadership skills, along with the collective efforts of the entire CDIC staff, Chairman Lin and President Su are eminently prepared to lead CDIC forward to the other proud decades ahead.
