Mr. William Su, Director of Risk Management Department led the delegation to attend the Second APEC Policy Dialogue Workshop on Financial Sector Reform organized by Bank Indonesia on November 29 and 30, 2006 in Lombok Island, Indonesia. Representatives from members of APEC, central banks, supervisors, deposit insurers, and international organizations participated in the event. Mr. Su was also invited to be one of the discussants on Session 4 "Case studies in Deposit Insurance" and delivered a speech of "Cooperation among Financial Safety Net in Resolution of Bank Failures"
Led by "Maintaining Financial Stability through Financial Safety Nets", the policy workshop focused on an examination of financial safety nets, last resort arrangements and other crisis management issues, which constituted an important element to maintain financial stability. This workshop pulled together experience of member economies and international agencies including successful models for addressing policy priorities and lessons that can be learned. It provided a dialogue between practitioners and experts on the practical application of measures to improve financial market reform, along with a discussion on stock-take of capacity building initiatives for financial sector reform in the region.
