CDIC Executive Vice President (EVP) Ms. Yvonne Fan led a delegation to attend the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) 76th Executive Council (EXCO) and associated meetings, including meetings of the Core Principles and Research Council Committee (CPRC), the Training and Technical Assistance Council Committee, as well as the Biennial Research Conference held by the IADI in Basel, Switzerland in early June 2023.
In the meetings, various IADI's matters were discussed. The CPRC meeting, chaired by EVP Fan, focused on the review and updates of the IADI Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems, as well as providing updates on ongoing research projects, among other topics. In addition, the delegation attended the IADI Biennial Research Conference which featured three sessions: Resolution and Financial Stability, Central Bank Digital Currencies, and Deposit Insurance. EVP Fan had the honor of chairing the first session on Resolution and Financial Stability. A distinguished guest, Professor Douglas W. Diamond from the University of Chicago and recipient of the 2022 Nobel Prize, was invited to deliver a keynote speech virtually at the conference.
IADI domiciled at the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland was established in May 2002. Currently it has 123 members, including 94 Members, 12 Associates and 17 Partners. Since 2002, CDIC has been actively participating in IADI activities as a founding member of the Association, promoting important IADI activities and joining the decision-making process as a member of the EXCO since 2003, which is responsible for IADI's major policies.
