The Central Deposit Insurance Corporation of Taiwan (CDIC) and the Deposit Protection Corporation of Zimbabwe (DPC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on February 2, 2018. The MOU establishes formal cooperative relations between the two sides with an aim to promote experience sharing, exchange and cooperation between Taiwan and Zimbabwe.
CDIC President Michael Lin and DPC CEO John M. Chikura signed the MOU on behalf of their respective organizations. CDIC Executive Vice President William Su and Mr. John M. Chikura represented the two sides at the MOU exchange held during the 54th Executive Council Meeting of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) in Basel, Switzerland.
CDIC and DPC are both members of the IADI. CDIC Executive Vice President William Su serves as a Chairperson of IADI Core Principles and Research Council Committee and Chairperson of IADI Asia-Pacific Regional Committee. DPC CEO John M. Chikura holds the position of Treasurer of IADI as well as Chairperson of IADI Africa Regional Committee. Through the exchange platform provided by the association, the two sides have established friendly and mutually cooperative relations. The signing of the MOU will further enhance exchanges and interactions between the two sides and pave the way for closer cooperation.
In the future, CDIC and DPC will carry out ongoing information and personnel exchanges to share expertise and experience, to help their respective agency advance in the deposit insurance field, and to further protect the rights and interests of depositors.
