CDIC President Mr. Michael M.K. Lin was invited to speak at the Technical Seminar of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (APRC) of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) in mid-August 2016 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The APRC Technical Seminar was hosted by the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Mongolia (DICOM), aiming at sharing updated information, experiences and lessons learned from every respective country. The seminar attracted more than eighty participants from deposit insurers, financial supervisory agencies and financial institutions from totally fifteen countries including the U.S., Canada, Italy, Russia, Japan, and South Korea. The theme of this seminar was entitled “Enhancing Asset Recovery.”
The seminar consisted of four sessions, which mainly focused on the hottest issues concerned by deposit insurers including legal structure and framework on asset recovery of failed banks, developing and strengthening secondary market for non-performing loans in emerging market, effectiveness of various tools and mechanism for asset work-outs and recoveries on problem banks, and emerging challenges and issues for deposit insurers on asset recovery in the aftermath of the financial crisis. The CDIC President Mr. Michael M.K. Lin delivered a presentation on "Asset Disposition & Recoveries - CDIC Taiwan Case," sharing Taiwan experience with the audience. The presentations ended successfully with positive feedbacks from all participants.
