CDIC Executive Vice President (EVP) Robert Chen accompanied by the Legal Affairs Department Division Chief Paul Lee attended the 1st International Public AMC Forum (IPAF) co-hosted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) in Seoul, Korea in late May 2013. There were around 300 participants from asset management companies (AMCs), deposit insurers or financial supervisory agencies of ten countries.
IPAF was jointly founded by ADB and KAMCO in 2012. Currently, it consists of seven public asset management companies and institutions from five countries. IPAF provides a platform to promote knowledge and expertise sharing among member AMCs to reinforce the economic safety net for the wellness of all Asian people and their governments. The CDIC being an observer dispatched two representatives to participate in this event. The theme of the forum was entitled “Reinforcing the Safety Net of the Asian Economy.” The conference covered three sessions and mainly focused on outlook and challenges of global and Asian economies for the next five years, global distressed asset/loan investing strategies within the context of recent financial crises, and outlook of partnership efforts for 2013 and beyond between public sectors and multilateral development banks for economic development and capacity building.
