CDIC President Mr. Howard Wang led CDIC delegation to participate in the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) 11th Annual General Meeting and Annual Conference in London, United Kingdom in late October, 2012. There were over 200 international delegates from about 60 countries participating in the event. The delegates included representatives of deposit insurance agencies, financial supervisors and central banks from countries from around the world, and the representatives of the European Commission, the World Bank, the Bank for International Settlements. IADI was set up in 2002 and currently has 86 members, including 65 formal members, nine associates and 12 partners. CDIC has been actively participating in IADI activities since it has become a founding member of IADI in May 2002 and currently serves as a member of the Executive Council and chairs the Research and Guidance Committee of IADI. CDIC not only contributes to set up policies of IADI, but also to promote the research and guidance of deposit insurance systems. The main theme of the 11th IADI Annual Conference was the “Deposit Insurers and the Financial Safety Net”. The Conference focused on four issues, including “Government, Legislation and International Bodies,” “Relationship with Regulators,” “Relationship with Central Bank” and “Consumer Expectations and Awareness”. The event brought together representatives of international bodies and deposit insurance practitioners from across the globe and leading experts in financial services to discuss and share experiences and views. President Mr. Howard Wang was invited to be a speaker in Session IV of the Annual Conference, sharing Taiwan’s experience in promoting public awareness and consumer expectations. The meeting and conference ended successfully with positive feedbacks from many international participants and audience.
