The International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) held its 10th Annual General Meeting and Annual Conference in Warsaw Poland, from 18 October to 21 October 2011. There were over 200 international delegates from about 60 countries participating in this event. These delegates included representatives of deposit insurance agencies, financial supervisors and central banks from different countries, and the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. CDIC President Mr. Howard Wang led CDIC delegation to participate in a series of IADI standing meetings. IADI currently has 82 members, including 63 formal members, 7 associates and 12 partners. During its 10th Annual General Meeting, CDIC President Mr. Howard Wang was reelected to serve as a member of Executive Council of IADI. CDIC has been actively participating in IADI activities since it became a founding member of IADI in May 2002 and currently chairs the Research and Guidance Committee of IADI. CDIC not only contributes to set up policies of IADI but also leads and promotes the researches and issuance of deposit insurance guidance. The main theme of the 10th IADI Annual Conference was “Beyond the Crisis: The Need for Strengthened Financial Stability Framework.” The Conference focused on six issues including “Global Economic Outlook,” “New Macro Prudential and Micro Prudential Safety Nets,” “Crisis Management,” “How to Cope with the too Big to Fail Problem,” “The Role of Deposit Insurance Scheme in Financial Safety Net,” and “Financial Inclusion.” This event brought together representatives of international standards-setting bodies and deposit insurance practitioners from across the globe and leading experts in financial services to discuss and share experiences and views.
