As of the end of March 2024, there are a total of 403 insured financial institutions in Taiwan. These include 3 government-owned financial institutions, 36 private domestic banks, 27 local branches of foreign banks, 3 local branches of mainland Chinese banks, 23 credit cooperatives, 283 credit departments of farmers' associations and 28 credit departments of fishermen's associations. Taipei branch of the Deutsche Bank is exempted from participation in Taiwan's deposit insurance system(DIS) due to its being covered by the German deposit protection fund. The rest of financial institutions listed earlier have all participated in the DIS.
