The CDIC Chairman Michael Lin led a delegation to attend the 1st International Association of Deposit Insurer (IADI) Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (APRC) Study Visit, hosted by the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) in Seoul, Korea from 18 to 20 September 2019 and gave a keynote speech.
The Study Visit program aimed to explore the responsibilities of financial safety net players of the hosting jurisdiction. Speakers from South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service, Bank of Korea and KDIC, and one of its leading scholars addressed on the topics of the tasks of financial safety net participants. In addition, speakers from the World Bank and deposit insurers from the APRC also shared their knowledge and expertise in the financial safety net mechanism and deposit insurance. Around 50 representatives of supervisory agencies, central banks and deposit insurers including Taiwan, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, etc., participated in the program. The representative from Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission also attended the program.
Chairman Lin was invited as a keynote speaker, sharing experience and insights on the topic of New Challenges and Tasks for the Financial Safety Net in the Asia-Pacific Region after the Global Financial Crisis. The presentation ended successfully with positive feedbacks from the participants.
During the Study Visit, Chairman Lin also exchanged ideas on the advancements of deposit insurance systems and risk monitoring mechanism with KDIC Chairman Dr. Seongbak Wi.
