It has been 30 years since the Central Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) was established in 1985. The CDIC held its 30th Anniversary Ceremony at the Taipei International Convention Center, in conjunction with the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (APRC) 13th Annual Meeting and International Conference, at the Humble House Taipei on Apr. 20-22, 2015.
At the 30th Anniversary Ceremony, the CDIC used retrospective films and the presentation of awards to share the development of Taiwan's deposit insurance system, and the fruits of the CDIC's protection of depositors' rights and interests and contribution to financial stability, with more than 400 domestic and foreign participants. A ”Sky Lantern Prayer for Blessings” ceremony held during ceremony was presided over by Chairman Ming-Chung Tseng of the Financial Supervisory Commission, Deputy Governor Chin-Long Yang of the Central Bank of the ROC (Taiwan), a representative of the IADI President Mariusz Mastalerz, the APRC Chairperson Hiroyuki Obata, and Chairman Hsien-Nung Kuei and President Michael M.K. Lin of the CDIC in the hope of enhancing the health and happiness of the public through the vision of "assuring financial stability through implementing the deposit insurance system."
The IADI APRC Annual Meeting and International Conference was attended by about 100 international experts and senior executives from 25 countries, including the United States, Canada, France, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore. Representatives from Taiwanese governments related to financial safety net, including the Financial Supervisory Commission, the Central Bank, the Ministry of Finance, and the National Development Council, also participated in the event . The Conference was held on the theme of "Cross-Border Cooperation in Resolution and Crisis Preparedness." The organizing of this conference by the CDIC at a time when the global trend is toward international cross-border cooperation in the resolution of problem financial institutions will not only be helpful to different countries in establishing well-designed deposit insurance systems, but will also further upgrade Taiwan's international professional awareness in the field of deposit insurance while strengthening substantive interchange and cooperation with international partners.
