To promote the sharing of experiences and the exchange of information, the Central Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) together with the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) represented by its President Mr. Howard N. W. Wang and the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation’s Chairman Mr. C. Heru Budiargo signed a letter of exchange to formally initiate a bilateral cooperative relationship on May 18, 2011 in Jakarta, Indonesia. In addition to representatives of the Central Deposit Insurance Corporation being present at the ceremony, the signing ceremony was also attended by the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation’s board of commissioners and directors and its senior executives. In all, there were over 20 persons in attendance. The representatives on the two sides not only exchanged opinions on the performance of their respective institutions, the deposit insurance systems, and future trends and challenges, while also outlining the prospects for future cooperation, but President Mr. Howard N. H. Wang spoke on how Taiwan’s deposit insurance system was successfully transited from blanket guarantee to the limited coverage. In the future, the Central Deposit Insurance Corporation will continue, together with the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation, through mutual exchanges of information and personnel, to share expertise and experiences with each other, so that both Taiwan and Indonesia may each become more sophisticated in the realm of deposit insurance, and thereby assist in stabilizing financial conditions in the Asia-Pacific region.
