CDIC President Johnson Chen had attended the IADI 1st Inter-regional Conference in Istanbul, Turkey during the period of June 26-27, 2007. The aforesaid international conference entitled “The Role of the Deposit Insurance Systems in Enhancing Financial Stability in Different Countries ”was co-hosted by IADI Europe Regional Committee, Eurasia Regional Committee and Middle East and North Africa Regional Committee. The conference consisted of six sections, which CDIC President Chen assumed the role of a moderator of fourth section entitled “Bank Failure: Who Is Responsible?” and delivered a speech in fifth section entitled “Cooperation Among Safety- Net Members in Bank Resolution: Practical Considerations.” Over 150 delegates participated in this event.
CDIC President Chen had paid a visit to the National Deposit Insurance Fund of Hungary to hold their first Partners' Meeting in Budapest. Dr. Peter Szekacs, Managing Director and his deputy Dr. Andras Fekete-Gyor of NDIF received CDIC delegation. With signing a Memorandum of Understanding on 24 June 2005, the two founding members of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) envisaged a regular consultation process about the new developments of their deposit insurance systems and exchange of knowledge in the recent amendment of the Deposit Insurance Act in hope of enhancing the deposit insurance systems of both sides.
