CDIC President Annie Cheng led Executive Vice President (EVP) Yvonne Fan and other delegates to Lisbon, Portugal in late-November 2025 to participate in a series of meetings of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI), including the 83rd Executive Council Meeting, the 24th Annual General Meeting, the Council Committee Meetings and the International Conference.
At the Annual General Meeting, the revised IADI Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems were formally published, and the elections for the Chair of the Executive Council and President of the Association, as well as for the vacant Executive Councilmember positions, were successfully completed. At the Executive Council Meeting, IADI’s 2026 Work Priorities were approved, with a focus on implementing updated Core Principles, addressing the implications of digitalisation, and developing a forward-looking five-year strategic framework. CDIC EVP Yvonne Fan was re-elected as one of the Executive Councilmembers for a term of 3 years, with the responsibility of promoting important IADI activities and making decisions of major policies.
During the meeting period, President Cheng held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Maciej Szczęsny, President of the Management Board of the Bank Guarantee Fund (Poland), and his delegation. She was also engaged in bilateral discussions with Mr. Mohamed Mahraoui, Head of Studies, Intervention and Banking Resolution at the Société Marocaine de Gestion des Fonds de Garantie des Dépôts Bancaires (Morocco). The parties exchanged views on a range of topics, including resolution measures and case experiences, approaches to dealing with troubled financial institutions, and the possibility of further collaboration.
The IADI Annual Conference, titled "Navigating Policy Challenges to Sustain Stability in an Uncertain and Fragmented World,” featured presentations and panel discussions on key issues such as challenges and opportunities of deposit insurance in uncertain times, strengthening financial safety nets through cooperation and crisis management in deposit insurance and the future adaptation of deposit insurance to the digital landscape. The participants consisted of representatives from deposit insurance agencies, financial supervisors and central banks, as well as international organizations such as the International Monetary Fund, the Bank for International Settlement, and the Financial Stability Institute.
IADI was established in May 2002. Currently it has 107 Members and 10 Associates. Since 2002, CDIC has been actively participating in IADI activities as a founding member of the Association, promoting important IADI activities.
