Mr. Songpol Chevapanyaroj, President of the Deposit Protection Agency of Thailand (DPA) led a delegation of 9 persons to visit Taiwan in mid-March 2023. The delegation included three Board members and five other senior managers of the DPA. On 13 March 2023, the CDIC Chairman Dr. Norman H. Chu along with President Annie Cheng, Executive Vice President (EVP) Yvonne Fan and EVP Kuang-Hsi Huang cordially received the delegation. Important topics on Overview of Deposit Insurance System in Taiwan, Supervisory Technology of Internet-only Banks in Taiwan, and CDIC's experiences in Asset Disposition and Recovery were presented and discussed. The DPA also shared its experience in running deposit insurance system and the virtual bank licencing framework in Thailand.
In the morning of 14 March, per the DPA's request, the CDIC accompanied the DPA and had a meeting with the Line Bank. General Manager Morris Huang of the Line Bank made a presentation on the overview of the operation of the Line Bank and other related issues.
Since signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the DPA in 2012, the CDIC has actively interchanged with the DPA through information exchanges, visits and participation in meetings of international organizations. This time, the DPA delegation's visit focused on studying from Taiwan's experiences in internet-only banks' establishement and monitoring. This is also beneficial to enhance the relationships between both sides.
