CDIC President Michael Lin and Executive Vice President William Su with the staff of the Resolution Department and International Relations and Research Office attended the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (APRC) Annual Meeting and the International Conference of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) hosted by the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Japan (DICJ) in Kyoto, Japan in late April 2014. There were nearly 100 participants from deposit insurers or financial supervisory agencies of 22 countries. This event consisted of an international conference, made up of 4 sessions, and the APRC 12th annual meeting. At the APRC annual meeting, the members discussed issues covering recent developments of the IADI, survey findings of the cross-border issues among APRC members, APRC outreach activities, future seminars on specific topics in the Asia-Pacific region and the information sharing mechanism. During the APRC annual meeting, CDIC EVP William Su as the Vice Chair of the APRC made a report on the results of the IADI Executive Training Seminars and APRC Outreach Workshop held by the CDIC (Taiwan) last year. He further introduced and promoted the 13th APRC annual meeting and conference held by the CDIC in Taipei next year. It generated good responses from the participating members. The theme of this conference was entitled “Deposit Insurance and Bank Resolution: Global Trends and Effective Practices.” The conference mainly focused on global trends in deposit insurance and bank resolution frameworks, resolution cost arrangements-implications for deposit insurers, contingency planning for bank resolution, and use of IT systems in bank resolution. Ms. Ying Ying Lin, Deputy Director of Resolution Department delivered presentation on “Designing an Efficient IT Infrastructure: The Experience of CDIC Taiwan.” The conference ended successfully with good feedbacks from all participants.
