CDIC Executive Vice President (EVP) William Su accompanied by the International Relations and Research Office Deputy Director Mr. Harrison Hwang attended the 11th Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (APRC) Annual Meeting and the International Conference of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) hosted by the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) in Seoul, Korea in mid-May 2013. There were around 80 participants from deposit insurers or financial supervisory agencies of 26 countries. The APRC Annual Meeting covered the issues including recent developments of IADI, economic and financial status of APRC members, outreach projects and the information sharing mechanism. The theme of the conference was entitled “Key Elements of Deposit Insurance and Challenges in Practice.” The conference included 5 sessions and mainly focused on major challenges in operating a deposit insurance system and responses, prerequisites for and key elements of effective deposit insurance systems, tasks for the non-IADI member countries in the region, recent development of IADI-FSB enhanced guidance papers, and compliance assessment with the core principles and examples. EVP William Su and Deputy Director Harrison Hwang delivered presentations on “Overview of Taiwan’s Country Report” and “IADI-FSB Enhanced Guidance on Public Awareness of Deposit Insurance Systems,” respectively. The meeting and conference ended successfully with good feedbacks from all participants and audience.
