CDIC President Howard N. H. Wang led a team of delegates to attend the 9th Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (APRC) Annual Meeting and the International Conference of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) hosted by the Deposit Protection Agency (DPA, Thailand) in Bangkok, Thailand in mid-January 2011. There were around 150 participants from deposit insurers or financial supervisory agencies of 24 countries. The APRC Annual Meeting covered the issues including recent developments of IADI, post-crisis economic and financial status of APRC members, outreach project and the information sharing mechanism. The theme of this Conference was entitled “Lesson Learned and Challenges of the Deposit Insurers in Dealing with Crisis.” The conference covered five sessions and mainly focused on role of safety net players during the crisis, challenges ahead, as well as IADI core principle and Guidance on Bank Resolution. President Wang was invited by the DPA to be a speaker in Session V, sharing Taiwan’s experience on Early Intervention and Bank Resolution. The meeting and conference ended successfully with good feedback from all participants and audience.
