The International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) in conjunction with Deposit Insurance Corporation of Japan held the IADI 9th Annual General Meeting and Annual Conference in Tokyo, Japan, in late October 2010. There were over 240 international delegates from more than 55 countries and regions participating in this event. These delegates included representatives of deposit insurance agencies, financial supervisors and central banks from different countries and the international organizations including International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, and Asia Development Bank.
The main theme of the IADI 9th Annual Conference was the “Financial Safety-Nets: Going Forward”. The Conference focused on four issues including “Transition Back to Limited Guarantee”, ”Re-privatization of (Partially & Wholly) Nationalized Banks”, “Assessment Methodology of Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance System”, and “New Regulatory/Supervisory Landscape and the Role of Deposit Insurance”. CDIC President Mr. Howard Wang was invited to present the “Transition Back to Limited Guarantee-Taiwan's Experiences” to the international audience. The International Deposit Insurance Exhibition was taken place during the meetings. CDIC also participated in the Exhibition to display documents explaining our country's deposit insurance system and to demonstrate recent public awareness materials. This event brought together deposit insurance industry practitioners from across the globe and leading experts in financial services to discuss and share experiences and views. It not only facilitated the exchange of experiences and information at an international level, but also raised the international image and visibility of CDIC.
