Mr. Fred Chen, Chairman of CDIC, attended the 4th SEACEN Public-Private Dialogue for the Asia-Pacific Region in Malaysia, from 18-19 August 2008. The SEACEN Dialogue hosted by the SEACEN Research and Training Center was held in Kuala Lumpur. The speakers for the Dialogue were from the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Malaysia Deposit Insurance Corporation, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, and the central banks/supervisory authorities and private sector institutions in Asia-Pacific region. The Dialogue provided a forum for the exchange of views and sharing of experience on issues relating to Basel II implementation and the development of Asia’s financial systems: experiences, challenges and regional cooperation. During the Dialogue, Chairman Chen exchanged opinions with the delegates from central banks and banking supervisory agencies around the world in terms of challenges and issues in the financial environment and Taiwan's financial supervision.
