Ms. Yvonne Fan, Acting Director of International Relations and Research Office, as a representative of CDIC attended the International Seminar on “Risk Analysis in Deposit Insurance Schemes” that organized by the Deposit Insurance Agency in Moscow, Russia on May 27-28, 2008. The event attracted 76 delegates from 18 countries, and representatives from IMF, International Association of Deposit Insurers and European Forum of Deposit Insurers.
The main objective of the seminar was to promote discussion of theoretical and practical aspects of risk analysis in deposit insurance schemes by sharing experience in applying various methods and models of risk estimation. The seminar consisted of two sessions and each of them included three topics. Session 1 was “Risk Analysis in Deposit Insurance Scheme” and it covered basic approaches to risk analysis and credit risk analysis with differential premium system in a deposit insurance system. Session 2 was “DIS Sufficiency Estimation” which discussed how to design an optimum deposit insurance fund and shared different countries’ experiences.
Ms. Fan was invited by the DIA to be a speaker in Session 2 to discuss the topic on “Benchmarking Deposit Insurance Fund ”. She shared with the participants the theoretical and practical considerations in setting up a target fund ratio, as well as the Taiwan experience in the area. The seminar ended successfully with good feedback from all participants and audience members.
