After the signing of MOU between CDIC and Deposit Insurance of Vietnam (DIV) in December 2006, in order to establish a closer relationship and cooperation, as well as to share the expertise and experience with DIV, CDIC Chairman Dr. Ray B. Dawn led a delegation to visit DIV in Hanoi on November 5-7, 2007. Chairman Dawn, being a speaker in the Seminar on “Financial Safety Net and Deposit Insurance System – Experience of Taiwan and Vietnam” co-hosted by DIV and Banking Institute, delivered a presentation on the functions and mandates of the deposit insurer in the financial safety net based on the CDIC model, and received enthusiastic responses from the audience. The participants in the seminar contained the representatives from State Bank of Vietnam, Ministry of Finance, Banking Institute, Bank of the Lao PDR and other interested parties.
During this visit, Chairman Dawn also had a courtesy call with DIV Chairman Mr. Mai Minh De and a meeting with DIV General Director Dr. Bui Khac Son. They exchanged the views and expereience in implementing the deposit insurance system and discussed about the 2008 cooperation plan between the two organizations.
