The Central Deposit Insurance Corporation, Taiwan (CDIC) held a virtual bilateral meeting on 16 March 2021 with the Deposit Protection of Swiss Banks and Securities Dealers (ESISUISSE). This meeting was chaired by Mr. William Su, President of the CDIC, with attendants of Ms. Yvonne Fan, Executive Vice President and staff of the International Relations and Research Office. The attendees from the ESISUISSE were Mr. Gregor Frey, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lucas Metzger, Chief Operating Officer and Mr. Siro Imber, Head of Legal Service.
The virtual meeting started with the brief updates on the financial stability issues and risks under the recent economic and financial conditions in Taiwan and Switzerland. Both sides also shared the future challenges and development on respective deposit insurance systems. At the end of the meeting, the CDIC and the ESISUISSE discussed on the opportunities for future bilateral cooperation.
The CDIC and the ESISUISSE have maintained a close cooperative partnership since signing the Memorandum of Understanding in 2012. In the future, the CDIC and the ESISUISSE will continue ongoing information sharing and personnel exchanges to share expertise and experience so as to advance deposit insurance system, and further protect the rights and interests of depositors.
