CDIC President Mr. William Su led a delegation to attend the Working Group on New Funding Options (WGNFO) meeting held by the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) in Milan, Italy in mid July 2019.
In order to implement IADI’s five-year Strategic Plan and enhance its operation development, the IADI Executive Council (EXCO) set up the Working Group on New Funding Options (WGNFO) to review membership fee structure and human resource proposal. The Working Group was composed of: EXCO Chair, Vice Chair, four Council Committee Chairpersons and Regional Committee Chairpersons, etc. President Su, as the Chairperson of Core Principles and Research Council Committee and Asia-Pacific Regional Committee, was an ex officio member of the WGNFO.
Given that change of membership fee structure is considered as a material issue to the development of the IADI, the WGNFO has convened several meetings to discuss this matter. Members of the WGNFO continued to discuss about related issues based on what was agreed in the last meeting and Chairpersons of the Regional Committees presented their views on the new funding options questionnaire. President Su presented views of the APRC members and made related suggestions in the meeting.
In addition, to promote substantial exchange with other deposit insurers, President Su held a meeting with Mr. Umaru Ibrahim, CEO of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) to discuss potential bilateral cooperation plans and topics and itinerary planning for NDIC’s forthcoming study visit to Taiwan.
