Mr. William Su, Executive Vice President of the Central Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC), as Chairperson of IADI Asia Pacific Regional Committee (APRC), was invited to participate in meetings of the 10th Deposit Insurance Corporation of Japan (DICJ) Round Table in mid-March 2018 in Kyoto, Japan.
The 10th DICJ Round Table attracted more than 70 participants from deposit insurers, financial supervisory agencies and the academia in over 20 countries. Top deposit insurance executives and representatives from the U.S., Canada, France, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Russia were invited to deliver keynote speeches and presentations aiming at sharing current deposit insurance systems and enhancement from each respective country. DICJ also invited chairpersons from other regions such as North America and Eurasia to share current information and views of each region.
EVP William Su moderated the first panel discussion with panelists from the top executives of Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Mongolia. As the Chairperson of APRC, he also gave a presentation on the topic of “Current Issues in APRC Region” during the Roundtable meetings. Through his presentation, Mr. Su not only shared current APRC member profiles in terms of deposit insurance systems and their current developments but also pointed out risks and challenges faced by the deposit insurers in APRC region. EVP William Su clearly conveyed his messages in the presentation and gained a lot of positive feedbacks from the audience.
During the event, Mr. Su exchanged opinions with many representatives of the APRC members for the purposes of enhancing ties and cooperation among International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) members in the Asia-Pacific Region.
