The International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) held its 12th Annual Conference and General Meeting in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from 4 to 8 November 2013. There were over 200 international delegates from about 58 countries participating in this event. These delegates included representatives of deposit insurance agencies, financial supervisors and central banks from different countries, and international organizations such as the International Monetary Fund, Bank for International Settlements and the Financial Stability Board. CDIC Executive Vice President William Su led CDIC delegation to participate in a series of IADI meetings of Executive Council, Research and Guidance Committee (RGC), other standing committees, Asia Pacific Regional committee as well as the IADI Deposit Insurance Exhibition. IADI was formed in May 2002. Currently it has 92 members, including 71 formal members, 9 associates and 12 partners. During its 12th Annual General Meeting, CDIC Executive Vice President William Su was elected to be a new Executive Council member of IADI to establish and implement policies that enable the Association to carry out its mandate. In additions, CDIC has been actively participating in IADI activities since it became a founding member of the Association and it currently chairs the RGC. CDIC not only contributes to set up policies of IADI but also facilitates the development of research and guidance on deposit insurance to promote effective deposit insurance systems. The main theme of the 12th IADI Annual Conference was "Navigating through the Financial Reform Landscape". The Conference focused on five issues including,"Current Global Scenario,""Reforms in Financial Safety Net Design,""Reforms in Deposit Insurance Funding Arrangements,""Contingency Planning for Potential Bank Failures,"and"Reforms in Bank Resolution Regimes". This event brought together representatives of international standard-setting bodies, deposit insurance practitioners and leading experts in financial services across the globe to share experiences and views.
