The delegation of the Malaysia Deposit Insurance Corporation (MDIC), namely, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Jean Pierre Sabourin and Director Ms. Yee Ming Lee, paid a visit to the Central Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) and had professional meetings with CDIC staff from August 29 to September 2, 2013. CDIC Chairman David Sun, President Howard Wang and Executive Vice Presidents Robert Chen and William Su received the delegates. They exchanged experiences and views on recent developments in deposit insurance systems in both countries. Mr. Sabourin also shared MDIC’s experience in participating in the Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP) in 2012 conducted jointly by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
Mr. Sabourin and Director Ms. Lee also paid a visit to the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), accompanied by CDIC Chairman David Sun and Executive Vice President William Su on September 3, 2013. They met the FSC Vice Chairperson Ms. Li-ling Wang. Mr. Sabourin shared the latest trend of international deposit insurance systems as well as MDIC’s operation mechanism. Mr. Sabourin also provided recommendations about Taiwan’s deposit insurance system based on their experience in conducting the assessment of the FSB-BCBS-IADI Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems under the FSAP program.
