The European Forum of Deposit Insurers (EFDI), and the Bank Deposit Guarantee Fund of Romania (Fondul de Garantare a Depozitelor Bancare, FGDB), held the 2026 Annual General Meeting and International Conferences in Bucharest, Romania in early June 2026 bringing together deposit insurers, international organizations, and financial safety net participants. CDIC President Annie Cheng led a delegation to participate in the event.
The conference was themed “Uncharted Territory: Banking Crisis Management 2.0.” Key issues include progress and remaining challenges for deposit insurers of the new EU crisis management and deposit insurance (CMDI) framework, international best practices for crisis management, the invisible risk driven by innovating deposit insurance in the era of fintech, coordination and risk management in cross-border crises. It is expected that the above discussions will help strengthen deposit insurers’ capability to respond to emerging risks and crises management, while enhancing the overall resilience of the financial safety net.
CDIC Taiwan also took the opportunity to meet with EFDI Chairperson Mr. Stefan Tacke, Vice-President of the Management Board of Poland’s Bank Guarantee Fund Mr. Tomasz Obal, and delegations from deposit insurers in Hungary and the United Kingdom. The meetings provided a valuable opportunity to exchange practical experiences on the aforementioned issues, deepen international exchange and cooperation, and draw on international best practices as an important reference for further enhancing CDIC Taiwan’s relevant operations and institutional arrangements.
