CDIC Executive Vice President (EVP) Yvonne Fan led a delegation to participate in the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) 81st Executive Council (EXCO) and associated meetings, including those of the Analysis Council Committee, the Policy Council Committee and the Implementation Council Committee in Basel, Switzerland from 26 to 28 February 2025.
In the 81st EXCO meetings, various IADI's matters, including the proposed scope, timing and governance of future work in resolution presented by IADI Resolution Working Group, strategy and selection criteria for the pilot testing of the revised Core Principles, etc., were discussed and approved. CDIC EVP Fan, as the Chairperson of the Analysis Council Committee, chaired the meeting during which the latest progress of ongoing research projects was discussed, and the briefing notes section of the Financial Cooperatives Technical Committee’s 2025-2028 Work Plan was approved. In addition, on the sidelines of the meeting, the delegation from CDIC held a bilateral meeting with Michel Cadelano, representative of the Fonds de Garantie des Dépôts et de Résolution (FGDR), France, sharing developments in the deposit insurance system and exploring potential areas for future collaboration.
IADI domiciled at the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland was established in May 2002. Currently it has 103 Members and 9 Associates. Since 2002, CDIC has been actively participating in IADI activities as a founding member of the Association, promoting important IADI activities and joining the decision-making process as a member of the EXCO since 2003, which is responsible for IADI's major policies.
